Developing Communities of Practices for ePortfolios:

Brainstorming Strategies to Build Connections and Buy-in with Faculty

Thursday, April 16th at 10 a.m. PT/12 p.m. CT/1 p.m. ET

Miss the webcast/chat?  Read the transcript, check out the resources, and contribute to our ongoing discussion here.

DESCRIPTION

  • What are some ways to introduce faculty to the concept of an ePortfolio?
  • What are faculty member's concerns and how can we effectively address them?
  • What strategies can we use to encourage and facilitate faculty buy-in around ePortfolios?

These are just a few of the questions to begin a collective brainstorming session around approaches to developing an ePortfolio community of practice among faculty.  We are delighted to have Roselynn Verwoord, Isabeau Iqbal, and Catherine Paul from the University of British Columbia, Canada, join us for this interactive webcast/chat and to share their firsthand experiences with building and facilitating the ePortfolio community of practice at UBC.  Some of the strategies they have used to engage faculty include building prestige for faculty participants by sending them to events and thereby encouraging them to report back to the community and fostering collaborative projects around writing grants and articles, developing resources, and joint presentations.  We will be using the UBC experience as a case study to launch what will be a creative and generative discussion so please join us!!

We encourage to you to check out the Cambridge, Kaplan, & Suter (2005) article and welcome your additions to the list below.
